It's Been A While

since I posted.

Not a lot has been going on. We are still settling in our new home and area. I haven't knitted a thing in over six months.

This weekend I'm going out to the mall and to my local LYS to pick up a few items.

I hope to see something that catches my eye.

My First Double Point Needle Project

My buddy here in Georgia Carolyn is always encouraging me to knit and blog, knit and blog. So this past weekend I went over to her place and we sat and knitted, chatted, watched movies ate and knit, knit, knitted. Carolyn enticed me, no, she told me that it was time for me to try knitting with double points. Our project was Posey by KrisKnits. Would you believe it took me about eight times to get it right. I started over for one reason or the other. I think the yarn was too slippery for my needles. When I left her house, I had only three rows but at least they were staying on. Here is Posey before stuffing. This is all I am doing. The third bulb that goes on top is too small for me. I will have to settle for two poseys instead of three.

Yarn and Pattern Choices

I pulled out two huge balls of magnificent yellow (this picture does the yellow no justice) and I recently found skeins of Moda Dea Ticker Tape and Wild on sale at Joann Fabrics. The Wild yarn is scary but that's where I will use my creativity to make something wonderful out of it.

Just Something to Do

Here a the cutest quiz I picked up from Frostyknits, Two Cables and Cloudberry Knits. Since I have not posted or knitted in ages, I will off this.

You Are Buttermilk Pancakes

Your prefer traditional, old fashioned foods. You shy away from anything fake, and you like meals with simple ingredients. It's not likely someone would find margarine or diet soda in your kitchen.Instead, someone might find a loaf of homemade bread baking or a soup simmering.

Take the Quiz for Yourself.

Baby Sweater

I decided to knit a baby sweater along with my knitting buddy. I chose Berroco also. I really love little wrap sweaters on babies and children so, I chose Berroco's PIE pattern.
The sweater was doing just fine until I decided to handstitch the edges. As you can see in the picture, one side is flopping, the other isn't exactly.
I will make another one or frog this one.

This is an unblocked variegated cotton dishcloth that I've been working on for a couple of weeks. I was brave and did it in a honeycomb stitch.

Easy and Free Dishcloth Patterns

One quick and easy way to get a lot of practice is by knitting up dishcloths. These projects go so quickly that you hardly ever get bored. I am working on a variegated honeycomb patterned dishcloth right now. I have a skein of a really bright blue that I may work up into this gingerbread man. Try one yourself and let me know how it comes out !

Here is the Easiest Scarf Pattern Yet.

This scarf is so easy, it can be done without a pattern. Whether in a solid yarn or a variegated, it's fun and relaxing to make. A long pattern like this is good for practicing to make sure all of your stitches are the same height and width. Have fun and go for it -Garter Stitch Scarf.

Easy Hat Pattern

Here is a really easy ribbed hat pattern. It's quick and easy and doesn't call for double pointed needles !!! It's called the Warm Ribbed Winter Hat. I am in the processing of making it now. It has not been too intimidating so far.
